Old logoThis logo represents nothing but failure and miserable seasons of football. It was introduced in the 90s and we have been using it ever since. In that time (since 1999) the Browns have gone 68-144 and have only played in one playoff game.
This logo is a constant reminder of all the frustrating seasons we have had to endure. Historically, the Browns are one the NFL's most successful franchises. Today they are clearly not recognized as such. We need a logo that is a reminder of the glory days, not a reminder of frustration. |
Proposed LogoThis proposed logo hints to the days of when the teams success and style of play forever bonded the city of Cleveland and the Browns. It is simple, humble, confident, and understated, just as the team has branded itself since its creation.
A change of logo would give us a chance to not be reminded of all the failed seasons, but give us hope that our fortunes will finally change. |
The Elf can stayThe Brownie Elf in it's original form is a creature of folklore who helped out with household chores as long as you left them something to eat. Its association with the Browns begins in the late 1940s when team had won four AAFC championships in a row. Owner Arthur McBride sought to make his team more recognizable and marketable and asked the people of Cleveland for submissions for mascot logos, and after careful consideration chose Brownie as the new face of the team.
Despite the public embrace for the elf, Art Modell was not a fan and began to phase it out. Thankfully, when the Browns came back in 1999, former owner Randy Lerner made a big push to use the elf logo more and more for the organization. The elf has once again been embraced by the public and it should remain being utilized. (read more here) The only suggested change to the elf logo would be a crown. After the Browns won the NFL title in 1964, Brownie was occasionally depicted with a crown signifying the team's achievement. Our logos should honor the teams great history. |
